SNOW!!

So we got about 5 inches of snow today where I live. I was so excited because I love snow, especially when I don't have to go anywhere. Snow is so beautiful and it always reminds me of the beauty of God's creation. Isn't God so wonderful. Enjoy these pictures of the snow!

This picture shows how much snow we got!

These are pictures of my backyard with trees covered with snow!

Crazy Weather!

The weather around where I live is so crazy. Last week is was bitterly cold, then this past weekend the temperatures got as high as 65 degrees. They lasted until early this morning, then as the day progressed it got colder and started snowing. It has now been snowing for the last couple of hours. Tonight the temperatures are supposed to get as low as 7 degrees. I can't believe that it was so warm this weekend and now it is so cold. Later this week we are supposed get get even more snow and the temperatures are supposed to stay low. Then, once again, this weekend the temperatures are supposed to warm up again. The weather around here is so random and unpredictable.

This Summer

I know it is kind of early to start thinking about what I am going to be doing this summer, but as many of you know I like to plan far ahead. Over Christmas Break, one of the wonderful opportunities I had was to go to the YMCA Camp Lakewood Staff Reunion. It was a whole lot of fun and I enjoyed seeing people that I haven't seen for quite a while, as well as, getting to be in the camp environment again. Well, as might be expected, when I was there I decided that I really wanted to return to some kind of camp environment this summer, but I didn't know how it was going to happen. Ever since I changed my major, I have been planning on taking a summer class in order for me to graduate Spring of 2011. I started looking at my four year plan and realized that I could not take the class I was planning to take because I will have not taken the prerequists for it. I was so excited.

I did spend some time looking into Ridge Haven Camp (camp for the PCA denomination). After doing quite a bit of research and even talking to some people who worked there, I decided that it was not the place for me. There are several reasons for this: First of all it is really far away and the logistics of getting me there are a lot more complicated. Second, is that I really need to make more money than they were able to offer me.

Well, all of this is to say that I am officially returning to YMCA Camp Lakewood for a second summer. I am so excited about this and am once again very thankful for this opportunity God has given me to minister to children. Even though there were some aspects of last summer that were quite difficult, I feel like this is what God has called me to do and that he is using this opportunity to prepare me for possible missions work in the future. Not only has God given me the opportunity to minister to the children that I come in contact with, but also to the other staff that I come in contact with. I pray that God will use me in a powerful way to change the lives of kids this summer. I can't wait until May 18th when staff training starts.

Back at School

Well, I am back at school after Christmas Break. I start classes bright and early tomorrow at 8AM. This semester I am taking General Psychology, Intoduction to Nursing, Chemistry, Composition II, and Personal Health. I am starting my nursing classes which I am very excited about. I am kind of glad to be back to school. It was great to see a lot of people that I haven't seen for quite a while today, but I am not very excited about having to do homework.

Since I have Been Home and Getting Ready for Christmas

Well, I have been incredibily busy since I have been home from school. I have been helping my parents get ready for Christmas, going to events that the College Group at my church has sponsored, going Christmas shopping, and spending time with my family. I am very much enjoying being home and it has been really encouraging to go to church and spend time with the people in the college group there.

This is going to be a pretty big Christmas my family and I. First of all it is going to be my niece's first Christmas. This means that she is going to be the center of attention, very cute, and fun to be around. Also, my sister and brother-in-law are coming in from England to visit. This is super exciting because I haven't seen either one of them for quite a while and miss them a lot. Lastly, I am getting the wonderful opportunity to go and visit some good friends from High School in Memphis. I am very excited about this and hope it will be an encouragement to both me and them.

Lastly, I wanted to give you an updat on my church. I have been doing quite a few things with people from my church since I have been home and I have gotten a good idea of how my church is doing. It is absolutely amazing to see how God works and is continually faithful no matter what. Last year at this time, my church was absolutely in shambles. We have come very far since then. We continue to grow and bring in new people. Also, there is much more of a sense of community among the congregational members and the different ministries. The youth group was hit very hard from what happened, but is doing very well right now. Finding out all of these things has been very encouraging to me. As I said before, it is wonderful to see how God has worked in and through my church over the last year.

Last Week of Classes, then Finals

I am sorry it has been sooo long since I have posted anything on this blog. I have been very busy with school and observing for one of my education classes. I have two more days of classes, then two finals next week, and then I get to go home for Christmas on Thursday or Friday of next week! I am so excited. My sister and brother-in-law are coming to visit from England and I will also get to see the rest of my siblings and their spouses. This semester has gone pretty well. There have been a lot of changes that have taken place and it has been incredibly busy, but all in all I think it has gone well. It is still somewhat hard to believe that I have made it this far through college. I remember back to when I hadn't even started thinking about college and how I never thought that I could survive college. Well, over Christmas Break I will try to post more often.

Fall Break

Well, last Wednesday morning I got up at about 6:30AM to drive home for Fall Break. I didn't really have that long for break, but I needed to spend some time with my family and so I skipped a couple of classes. I got home just in time for my Dad's retirement party. On Thursday, I had a very god time going to visit my High School. I got to see a lot of people that I haven't seen for a long time, which I always enjoy doing. I also did some shopping. This weekend I got to go see a movie, which I have been wanting to do for a long time. I also got to go to church on Sunday, which was very encouraging. I was very glad that I was able to go home and see my family. One of the most exciting things I got to do was see my niece. She is almost three months old and has changed so much since I last saw her. I got to hold her and she smiled at me :). She is so cute.

Coming back to school was quite intersting. I wanted soem company with me while I was drivign back, so my mom rode with me and was planning on riding the train back home. This didn't exactly happen. The train wass about three hours late, so she decided to just spend the night and go home this morning. So I took her to the train station this morning before class. She finally got on the train around 10AM and then got home around 3:45. We could not believe how late the train was running.
